Email #1 – Architecture Hall, 2nd Floor

These are the first two photos I'm sending to the new "Construction Loop Group" of those interested in the renovation of Architecture Hall.

Taken on Monday June 26, these 4x5” film photos show the South Wing on the 2nd floor after the interior walls were removed. I was pleased to see the exposed structural steel. Also, the larger space made it easier to see the skylights in proper perspective. The old rooms were too small for viewing the skylights well.

Is this a hint of what the new "open studio" space might look like?

The top photo is looking ESE from the old Rm. 224 (Rick Mohler's Arch 501 studio in Winter 2006). Underneath the skylight on left was Rm. 216 (Dave Miller's studio) and in the far corner was Rm. 218 (Mark Millett's studio).

The bottom photo shows the south end of the same space, looking SE from Rm. 220 (Wyn Bielaska's studio in Winter 2006).  - Karen Esswein, your desk was beside the window on right.

I hope this first email to the Construction Loop Group works. Let me know if your computer has problems opening the photos, or if they appear too dark or too light, etc. If you reply to this email, I believe it comes back to me only. If you want me to forward your reply to the whole group, I will.

More to come....
