Email #20 - Steel Stripped of Concrete

As mentioned earlier, most of the structural steel columns in Architecture Hall were originally fireproofed with a thick coat of concrete. The attached photo from the 2nd floor shows this especially well.

The concrete from the steel column at left was removed so that the new shear wall at this location can be tied-in directly to the structural steel. On the day before this photo was taken, the stripped column looked like its brother on the right.
