Email #34 - Added Scale

You may notice that there are never any people in my construction site photos. The main reason is that large-format film photography is ideally suited for still subjects. So from the first time I walked onto a construction site in 1995 with a tripod and a large camera, I decided to focus on the material building and not the construction workers. In my pictures, you usually see just the building/site itself, and what it tells us at the end of the day.

I continue that approach even though I'm shooting mostly with a smaller digital camera now. But people are great for scale in architectural photography. So I got a bunch of you to come over to the building today and got a hand-held digital picture with people in it!

This was the second organized tour of the building and 18 of you came, mostly students. With school starting tomorrow and lots on my plate, I probably won't be organizing any more tours for a while and I might send fewer photos in October, my busiest month of the year. But still I'll keep you posted as the building continues to morph.
