Email #44 - Building in Diapers Because the roof is not finished and sealed, Architecture Hall is leaking with our recent heavy rains. On the top floor, one temporary solution has been big plastic "diapers." The top two photos were taken on Nov. 13 in the North Wing. The diapers collect the water tripping through the wooden slats (where there were once skylights), and then channel the water out the two windows. Note: Half of the original 1909 skylights were covered with wood in earlier renovations and will not be reopened in the current renovation. The bottom photo was taken a week earlier in the south wing. Here a smaller diaper is collecting water dripping from an old skylight hole and directing it into a garbage can. John Stamets
