Email #61 - Skinny Legs Beefed Up Following up on the previous email (#60), here are some more photos looking west towards the new Exhibit Space on the 2nd floor. The top photo would have been the barista's view if the former Design Coffee shop had remained open in July during interior demolition. The 'room' beyond the red columns was the seating area, and it will be again. The brick wall with windows was completely demolished to make way for the entrance to the new Exhibit Space. The other two photos, taken in December and January, show a closer view of the entrance to the Exhibit Space. The historic "skinny leg" columns seen in the middle photo were exactly at the junctions of the red brick wall and glass partition walls seen in the upper photo. See also the photos in email #60. The bottom photo was taken after the skinny legs were muscled up and encased in columns of reinforced concrete. The steel columns are not centered within the concrete, but are closer to the inner edges. I desaturated the colors in the two more recent photos to keep the emphasis on the structure.
