Email #65 – Return of the Breather Walls Here come the "Breather Walls" now to the 2nd floor. In the upper horizontal photo, you can see two of these ventilation chimneys recently constructed of yellow gypsum board. The next bay closer will remain open to be the 'Commons" area for all four studios in this wing. Then another yellow breather chimney will appear (next week?). In the lower left photo, note the gap between the chimney and the south wall. That opening will remain at finish, increasing the porosity of the studios. The lower right photo shows a hollow chimney half-built. Drywall (gypsum board) is coded Yellow or Green or White, I'm told. The yellow drywall is mold resistant and water resistant. That's important in a ventilation system. The green drywall seen elsewhere in the building is just water resistant, but most of the drywall in the building is the common white stuff.
