Email #68 - New Coffee Shop

Big changes are happening now to the 2nd floor spaces as steel stud wall framing goes up. The best view to tell the story was ruined today by the bright sunlight, so you'll have to wait on that one.

Meanwhile, here are two other photos showing the 2nd floor changes, as viewed looking south from the center of the building. The top photo shows the Coffee Shop forming where the red ladder marks the barista's spot. The main counter/window faces north. Note the pull-down door already installed. The old coffee shop was at the left edge of this picture and facing west (right).

More wall framing has also been installed south of the Coffee Shop. Indeed the dramatic view of the "Catwalk Plenum" structure has been lost! That's the story I would like to show you if it weren't for the bright sun in the way.

Note the hallway forming in the bottom photo. The ceiling light is above two doors leading left and right into the SE and SW studio quadrants. Here I see the ghost of the narrow old hallway which was approximately at the same location.

Both photos were taken in HDR but no color corrections were made in Photoshop. The colors are close to accurate including the "greenish" color of the studio walls (bottom photo) with their unpainted raw shotcrete finish. However, on overcast days these same walls can look more "bluish," both to the eye and to the camera. Which is it? You'll have to decide for yourself someday.
