Kundig wins Cooper-Hewitt 2008 national design award

A partner at Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects, Tom Kundig has been recognized for qualities including attention to detail, integration of architecture and landscape, and his innovative use of materials, some of which are left in their natural state. Projects attributed to Kundig include small cabins, to high-rises, and a variety in between. One of his condominuim projects is the new construction at 1111 Pike St. on Capitol Hill. This month Kundig, a graduate from the CAUP, is honored with the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award.
Among numerous awards he has received, the National AIA has honored him 5 times with Institute Honor Awards. In 2007 he was also the recipient of the Academy Award in Architecture from the Academy of Arts and Letters, and in 2004 was selected as one of 8 North American Emerging Architects by the Architectural League of New York. Two of his projects were also named Record Houses by Architectural Record.
Tom Kundig graduated with both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Washington's CAUP.
