Arlington sets city's priorities for year. A city council retreat puts economic developments at the top of the list.

Friday June 2008

At Arlington's recent City Council retreat, economic developments topped the wish list of concerns and projects for the upcoming year. Said Mayor Margaret Larson, "There were no surprises on the list. We know that the decisions we make now will affect us long into the future." Projects for economic development include: development of the city's municipal airport's business park, promoting use of the performing arts center, and establishing a sign system to provide better directions and define Arlington's growing areas. This last project, entitled Gateways, is being assisted by CAUP students from the departments of Architecture and Urban Design and Planning. As part of this project, directional signs will be installed at all city entrances, from trails to highways, which should help visitor's navigate the airport, the Smokey Point retail business area, old downtown, city parks, as well as residential areas.
