CBE faculty discuss AYP Expo
Thursday March 2009Four CBE professors and a Ph.D. student took part in the 2009 Pacific Northwest Historians Guild Conference, "Meet me at the Fair" – Exploring the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, which was held March 6 and 7 at the Museum of History and Industry to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1909 event. Presenting papers were Landscape Architecture Associate Professor Thaisa Way, "A-Y-P as Public Place: Art and Nature for Seattle Parks"; Architecture Professor Jeffrey Ochsner, "Geometry and Geology: Rainier Vista from the A-Y-P to the UW"; Architecture Associate Professor Kathryn Rogers Merlino, "Classicizing the Wilderness: The Forestry Building at the 1909 A-Y-P"; Urban Design and Planning Lecturer Manish Chalana, "Where Gaiety is the Reigning Deity: The Pay Streak at the A-Y-P"; and Architecture Ph.D. student Tyler S. Sprague, "Lighted Fair is Magic Landscape: The A-Y-P at Night."
