In the area of scholarship, our faculty has an active publication record. Over the past five years, faculty in the Department have published over 7 books and 50 articles and book chapters. Faculty in the Department are currently on the editorial boards of premier planning journals, including the Journal of the American Planning Association, the Journal of Education and Planning Research, Environment and Planning B, and the Journal of Planning Literature.

Co-edited by Urban Design and Planning Senior Lecturer Fritz Wagner, the book is the product of a research agenda of the National Center for the Revitalization of Central Cities at the University of New Orleans' College of Urban & Public Affairs. In addition to serving as senior lecturer, Wagner is co-director of the College's newly established Northwest Center for Livable Communities.
