Historian Consultant to Project
Heritage-Seed and the Blue Heron Foundation of Vashon Island, Washington
on the conservation and restoration of the garden created in the1920s
by Kuni Mukai, an Issei woman. This project has recently been taken
under the aegis of The Garden Conservancy of New York. Professor Streatfield
is a member of the Selection Committee of this organization. |

Historian Consultant to Rancho
Los Alamitos Foundation, on garden history, restoration and the interpretation
of The Olmsted Brothers' design of the gardens at Rancho Los Alamitos,
Long Beach, California. Professor Streatfield was a member of the team
which developed a Landscape Master Plan for this historic property,
which includes gardens designed by Paul Howard, The Olmsted Brothers,
and Edward Howard and Alan Chickering between 1921 and 1936. |

Consultant to the Garden Conservancy
on the management of the Chase Garden, Orting, Washington. This garden
was created in the early 1960's by Ione Chase, assisted by her husband,
Emmot. The design was strongly influenced by Japanese gardens, despite
the fact that neither Ione nor Emmot has been to Japan. The garden
has a large woodland area planted with many native wildflowers and
plants and a large meadow planted with alpines. |
