UNTOLD LANDSCAPE : SEATTLE AND TAIPEI: A VIRTUAL COLLABORATIVE DESIGN STUDIO [Studio Website]

Cultural landscape is often understood as a landscape or spatial category in the context of preservation. But more importantly, it is also about seeing and understanding an environment and its underlying stories. The purpose of this experimental studio is to uncover stories in the landscape and weave together narratives and interpretations through design interventions. To uncover the multiple layers of meanings, identities and environmental processes, the studio involves collaboration of two teams of architecture and landscape architecture students at Tamkang University in Taiwan and University of Washington in Seattle . Through images, storytelling, interpretations and cross-cultural lenses, the students help each other decipher and respond to the untold narratives in two urban sites – the Zhoumei neighborhood in Taipei and Central Waterfront in Seattle.
