The developing regions of the world are playing an increasing role in global environmental issues. The challenges that developing societies are facing require sufficient preparation and anticipation, and part of that process will deal with the establishment of professional fields that are new to several countries.
This study investigates Colombia as the context, and landscape architecture as an environmental profession, and discusses a framework for a curriculum, where the starting point is the understanding of the needs, potentials and values of a specific society.
As a conclusion. landscape architecture is presented as a profession of leadership in the future, mainly for its potential to be holistic, connective, inclusive and suitable to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
