The Skagit Talc Mine, located in North Cascades National Park, represents a
significant link to the mining history of the Skagit River Valley. This thesis
seeks to understand the historic context surrounding the mine and to assess
the integrity and significance of the mine site as it exists today. The thesis
also offers and evaluates three management options for the site before recommending
a course of preservation that addresses management issues as they relate to
visitor protection, cultural resources, natural resources, interpretation, education,
recreation and data collection.
