David Leatherbarrow is professor and director of the Ph.D. Program in Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design. Dr. Leatherbarrow has taught theory and design at the Polytechnic of Central London and Cambridge University, England. In private practice with Lauren Leatherbarrow, he is a recipient of the Visiting Scholar Fellowship from the Canadian Center of Architecture (1997-98). His books include Surface Architecture (with Mohsen Mostafavi); Uncommon Ground: Architecture, Technology, and Topography; The Roots of Architectural Invention: Site, Enclosure, Materials; On Weathering: The Life of Buildings in Time; and Topographical Stories: Studies in Landscape and Architecture. This lecture is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
The Henry Art Gallery is located on the western edge of the University of Washington campus at 15th Avenue NE and NE 41st Street.By car take I-5 to the NE 45th Street exit and drive east to 15th Avenue NE. Turn south on 15th Avenue NE. The Gallery is on the left between NE 41st Street and Campus Parkway. Parking is often available in the underground Central Parking garage at NE 41st Street.
