In conjunction with the Henry Art Gallery exhibition Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa/SANAA, architect Ryue Nishizawa will give a special lecture on Saturday, February 9 at 5:00 pm that will highlight the firm's design process. SANAA's avant-garde practice spans the globe—from the circular glazed Museum of the 21st Century (1999-2004, Kanazawa, Japan) to the recently opened New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City, to the Zollverein School of Management and Design in Essen, Germany. The lecture will provide a rare opportunity to hear about this work that goes beyond boundaries of architecture and art as well as abstract and built form.
Kazuyo Sejima (1956- ) and Ryue Nishizawa (1966- ) established their collaborative design practice SANAA (Sejima and Nishizawa and Associates) in 1995. Nishizawa studied at the Yokohama National University and in addition to working with Sejima, has maintained an independent practice since 1997. Nishizawa, together with Sejima, holds the Jean Labatut Professorship at the School of Architecture at Princeton University.
