Professor Herranz currently conducts research on the strategic management of public and nonprofit agencies, inter-organizational networks, workforce development, as well as the intersections of community development and arts and culture. He holds a Masters in City Planning from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in Urban Political Economy and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research includes studies for The Urban Institute, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, World Bank, and the International Labour Organization. Prior to his doctoral studies, he was director of research at the Urban Strategies Council.
