UW Nuclear Reactor

The controversial, decommissioned nuclear reactor (now called More Hall Annex) on the UW Campus is a building with a story. Built in 1961 - a contemporary of the Space Needle - by architects from the UW, it was designed to showcase the promise of nuclear energy. You can read about this building on the VRC blog (click the link at the top left of the VRC webpage), or on the blog created by Abby Martin, an Architecture graduate student petitioning to save the historic building. Walk to see the building by heading towards Drumheller Fountain, veering to the left and crossing Stevens Way.
