35mm Slides

Collection slides circulate by a card check-out system. (See Circulation link above for borrowing procedures and policies.) No borrower may duplicate 35mm slides from the Collection without discussing the circumstances with the Director.

Duplication of Collection 35mm slides for any reason other than educational purposes is EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN.

Many Collection 35mm slides are commercially purchased and may not be duplicated without permission from that vendor. In some cases, a book or periodical source can be provided from which a copy for a student paper may be made that is more suitable than duplicating a 35mm slide.
Some 35mm slides in the Collection are original slides from faculty members that may be reproduced and duplicated for educational purposes without obtaining special permission. These slides are irreplaceable in many cases, and should not be used in any way that could result in their loss or destruction. Do not assume you know which 35mm slides are which without consulting with the Director. Beyond the copyright infringement potential, duplication of a 35mm slide never produces a particularly good image. Please refer to the Collection's Copyright Policy for more information.

Faculty may request to have 35mm slides already in the Collection scanned by Collection staff to be used in digital form for educational purposes. Please see the Collection's requests policy for more information.
