Since the 1950s, the Collection has focused on the acquisition of images for the College in 35mm slide format.

In 2001, the Collection began to acquire digital images in addition to 35mm slide images. The majority of images now acquired by the Collection are digital images.

The Collection will continue to circulate and maintain the existing 35mm slide images. 35mm slides that may be legally and efficiently converted to digital format will be processed by the Collection at faculty and student request, and as part of Collection development.

Faculty and student borrowers are encouraged to use digital images for classes and presentation, since digital images are more efficiently circulated and shared by the College community.

Please ask the VRC Director for a password to access the digital image database. Borrowers may request digital images from 35mm slides in the VRC. These 35mm slides are checked out in the appropriate way (using checkout cards) but are left in the VRC for staff to scan and catalog. Borrowers will be informed when these digital images are ready for use.CAUP faculty and students may make requests to add images to the Collection from printed materials, from site photography, or from their original slides. Order forms may be downloaded from this page as .pdf files from the links to the right.
